“Friends” group members are dedicated supporters of our Pima County Public Library! Through the sale of used books and library materials, these active volunteer groups join with the Pima Library Foundation to raise funds to support needs of library branches and the Pima County Public Library as a whole.
Friends groups – big and small -- sell used library books and materials, collect donated books for sale, and raise money through membership fees or other activities. You can join one of the thriving “Friends” groups across Pima County and help with book sales or other volunteer projects that raise money for needs across the Pima County Public Library system.
The largest of these groups, the Friends of the Pima County Public Library, located at 2230 N. Country Club Road in Tucson, has
supported the Library for nearly a half-century, and raises approximately $250,000 per year for needs across the Library system.
Pima Library Foundation Executive Director Ann-Eve Cunningham recently had the pleasure of touring their facility
“They are a well-oiled machine with volunteers everywhere, processing books, prepping for the next sale, putting books for sale on the internet and researching valuable books for special sales,” Cunningham says. – “Everyone had a smile! It looked like great fun!” she says.
Smaller but equally enthusiastic Friends groups support the work of specific branches within the Library system. For 40 years, the Friends of the Joyner Green Valley/Sahuarita Libraries have fostered lifelong learning, encouraged volunteerism and raised funds that support programs, provide supplemental materials and contribute to library improvements.
